The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life, accoridng to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 1324)..The Eucharist is the body, blood, soul, and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, and "is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in being." (CCC 1325)
Our parish celebrates the Eucharist together at daily Mass (Mon and Wed at 5:30pm, Tue, Thur, Fri at 7:30am, Sat at 8:15am) and at four Sunday Masses (Saturday vigil Mass at 5pm, Sunday at 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30am.)
Traditional First Eucharist preparation is in the 2nd grade after having receieved first reconciliation. Before receiving their First Eucharist second graders should be formed for a period of time in order to prepare for reception of the sacrament. This is done by the parents at home with resources provided by the parish. See the below links for a schedule pertaining to the sacramental preperation (2nd graders), we well as formational resources.
Preparation for the sacrament of the Eucharist is offered to adults, teens and older children through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program (RCIA). Please contact the Parish Office, Fr. Michael Kapperman, or Fr. Andrew Dickinson to register for RCIA. For more information on the RCIA program here at Sacred Heart click here. Those preparing through the RCIA process, upon completion, will normally receive First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil.
